“The Pirate Ship House” on the backroads of Beacon sets sail for the last time this Halloween. Located near Rombout Avenue in the middle of Main Street, this ship has fascinated and delighted the people of Beacon for over a decade.
A Little Beacon Blog is told that the maker is a woman who is an upholsterer who is moving from Beacon to start a new chapter. Legend has it that even Captain Jack Sparrow has sent her a letter of high praise for her creation. A cardboard replica of the Captain is included in the design.
The farewell yard sign outside reads: “The Flying Dutchman be setting sail for the last time. Thanks for the many years of booty, boos, and a treasury of beautiful memories. Fair Winds to ye Beacon!”
