Things To Do In Beacon, NY 📅 9/20/2025

A lot of news happened in Beacon over the past two weeks, and we have the News Digest coming for you next. But before you dive down into ALBB's deliciousness of Beacon businesses, shopping and events, here is a peek of the article answering some of your questions on if the City of Beacon and Schools lowered the flags to half-mast. Several of you wrote in asking that question. Preparing for that article triggered a series of strange events that we also published about, which will be expanded upon in the News Digest.
Last night, breaking news came in that the man charged with harassing Beacon Bread Company and other Arab businesses in Beacon and other downstate areas of New York was charged with 22 counts of making terroristic threats against frontrunning NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. That was very good news for many in the Beacon community, so we paused to publish that last evening.
For those who write into ALBB sometimes to say "Why can't we post the nice things? The pretty things?" ... ALBB reminds you that good news comes in different packages. Sometimes it is an unfiltered moment of a flowerbud drinking the sun, and sometimes it is in a courtroom when a man who has been repeadetly harassing and scaring people is finally charged. This gives peace to people he did it to in the past, and hope for people he and others like him will do in the future.

Enjoy your weekends in Beacon!

Free Palestine Protest
Date: Every Sunday
Time: 12pm-1pm
Location: 450 NY-211, Middletown, NY
From the Organizers: "We’re out here every week speaking out against 🇮🇱’s war crimes, as they deliberately starve over a million children by blocking aid and through fueling a man-made famine.

If you’ve ever wondered, “What can I do?” know this: protests in the U.S. matter most. This country funds the war crimes, and staying silent here isn’t neutrality; it’s privilege. Your voice can make a difference! And if not now, then when?

Palestine will be talked about for the rest of our lives. When the world looks back on this moment, will you be able to say you stood up or will you pretend you did while having stayed silent?
