The Hard Cider Run: New York

“Racing to Save Lives”

Join us to race and raise money for cancer research! The 5k course is a flat out and back. It will be on carriage path which is flat and fast, along scenic Hudson River. Runners for the 10 miler will leave Long Dock Park run on trails along the river, up 9d to the trails that lead to the top of Mount Beacon. The turnaround is at the fire Tower on top of Mount Beacon. The race starts and finishes at Long Dock Park.

Mutts on the Mountain 5K and Fun Run

Location: Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill, NY
The 1st Annual Mutts on the Mountain 5K and Lazy Dog Fun Run is the only timed trail race (of any length) in the Tri-State area that allows you to run with your canine companion. This is a not-to-be-missed event for hikers, joggers, runners, and of course your well-behaved four legged friend. Consisting of 3.1 miles of technical single track, this course will keep trail runners on their toes and keep those running with their canine companion focused on the what waits around the bend. This world class course features several steep climbs, water crossings, two rock scrambles, nearly 500 feet of elevation gain, and ruff terrain. You’ll find an aid station (water and Gatorade for human participants, and water for canine participants) 1.6 miles into the course, and a “H2O cool off station” (for canine participants) 2.1 miles into the course. We strongly encourage human participants who don’t have a canine companion to participate in this course (we will have three waves, the first being for dog-less participants).

Spring Sprint 5K Trail Run

Your dogs are welcome to participate in the run or walk as long as they are leashed at all times, are current on their rabies & distemper vaccines, and have EXCELLENT temperament with other dogs & children. The Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park—a 19th century railroad bridge transformed into the world’s longest linear park—hosts a weekend full of running memories in New York State’s beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley. Runners of all abilities are invited to take part in one of four flat, fast and scenic races—a marathon, half-marathon, 5K, and the ThinkDIFFERENTLY Dash, a one-mile run for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
The Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K each traverse the historic Hudson River via this 1.25-mile pedestrian bridge . Participants will by wowed by tree-lined landscape as they go the distance along the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail, the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Ulster County, and the riverside campus of Poughkeepsie’s Marist College. But the jaw-dropping views of the majestic Hudson from atop the 212-foot Walkway will make these races truly unforgettable.

The Ryan McElroy Children's Cancer Foundation "Never Say No" 5K race/walk

The Ryan McElroy Children’s Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by family and friends of Ryan McElroy who lost his life to cancer just shy of his fifth birthday. It was his bravery and determination that inspired us to continue his courageous battle to fight this devastating disease. 

It is the foundation’s mission to raise funds to support the children living in our community that are afflicted with cancer and other life threatening diseases by improving the quality of life for them and their family while they courageously battle these devastating diseases.   Click to view flier. I Am Beacon will be conducting its premier 5K run/walk on Sunday, September 24th, 2017. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Making A Difference Scholarship Fund. The Making A Difference scholarship is a $2000 scholarship awarded to a graduating Beacon High senior.This award is split over the course of 4 years to ensure there is support for our scholars throughout their entire undergraduate studies.

The race will start and finish at Memorial Park. Last call registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and race to begin at 9:00 a.m., rain or shine. The registration fee is $25 for all participants through 9/1; $30 after 9/1.

All participants that register prior to 9/1 will receive an exclusive race t-shirt. 

All fitness levels welcome! This event is designed for the whole family to enjoy! Strollers allowed.

5th Annual Sickle Cell Walk

Join Jessica Salomon and families from around the tri-state area as they raise funds and awareness by walking for everyone whose life has been touched by sickle cell disease. This fun day will include raffles for prizes and more!

The funds raised will support the innovative Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation at Columbia University Medical Center. Columbia is one of the largest centers using stem cell transplantation as a cure for sickle cell and other blood disorders. Our caring professionals are also pursuing a myriad of ways to improve the lives of their patients living with these diseases. Learn more about their work here.
