This free week long program for students entering grades 8-11 will provide an introduction to careers in the fire department. We are planning a field trip to a training center as well as professionals and volunteers to share their experiences. We are hoping for an awesome week. The goal of the academy is to help participating youth to understand the role firefighters play in the community, job duties performed and requirements of becoming a firefighter. In addition, the program will foster relationships between the adults and the youth participants. This will be accomplished with mock situations and lectures, field trips, physical fitness exercises, and games. Space is limited!
