HIRING: Engagement Editor at Highlands Current

The Highlands Current is looking for a part-time Engagement Manager to develop a broader and deeper connection with their community in print, online and in person. This is a salaried position.

Responsibilities

Community Outreach

  • Organize and lead in-person events and activities that connect the staff to the community.

  • Establish and manage community partnerships.

  • Assist with engagement efforts of membership and fundraising programs.

  • Monitor analytics to measure effectiveness of outreach.

Social Media

  • Manage branded social media accounts for the newsroom.

  • Coach and oversee newsroom staff in use of social media.

  • Introduce new social tools and train the staff in their adoption.

  • Oversee gathering of social media metrics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years experience at a news organization, with emphasis on working in an “audience-building” capacity.

  • Strong organizational skills to plan and execute community events; ability to handle project oversight.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for work with staff and community.

  • Strong social media skills to oversee newsroom’s social media efforts.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Familiarity with newspaper membership and fundraising programs preferred.

Workweek: Negotiable (3 days expected)
