The City of Newburgh Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has two positions available in its office. The positions can be combined or remain separate. The first position is for bookkeeping, and the second position is for secretarial services to assist the Executive Director. A background in modified accrual accounting is required for the bookkeeping position. Candidates with PARIS and/or IDA work experience will be given preference but not necessary. All candidates must have strong organizational skills and familiarity with relevant software (Quickbooks, MS Office Suite). All work to be performed in the office during business hours. Attendance and the taking of minutes at monthly board meeting, currently at 6 p.m. on the 3rd Monday of the month, is also required. Hourly pay dependent upon experience. Independent contractor status with annual contract/agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR BOOKKEEPING:
Input all transactions into Quickbooks software (transactions under 20 per month).
Prepare deposit(s) and take to bank.
Prepare monthly bank account reconciliation(s).
Prepare 1096 and 1099s at years’ end.
Maintain files with appropriate backup for all transactions.
Provide assistance to Treasurer and Finance/Audit Committee if requested.
Provide assistance to auditor for annual audit.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SECRETARIAL :
Take and transcribe minutes of the board meeting and notes for any committee meetings, knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order helpful.
General office knowledge of filing and file management.
General office knowledge of e-mailing, scanning, copying, etc.
General knowledge of operating standard office equipment.
Website knowledge for updating information.
Pick up mail at post office box.
